February 7, 2023: Amherst, WI 54406 Fans at Tuesday's league challenge between the Iola-Scandinavia Thunderbirds (Iola, WI) and the host Amherst Falcons (Amherst, WI), saw Iola-Scandinavia's basketball squad hold off Amherst by a tally of 34-32.
With the victory, Iola-Scandinavia improves its record to 14-4 on the campaign. The Thunderbirds host Shiocton (Shiocton, WI) to play the Chiefs in a Central Wisconsin - East challenge on Thursday, February 9. The Chiefs come into the challenge with a record of 10-10. Shiocton won 47-42 in their recent league challenge against Manawa (Manawa, WI)
Next up, the Falcons play the Wittenberg-Birnamwood Chargers (Wittenberg, WI) in a Central Wisconsin - East challenge, on Friday, February 10. Amherst will attempt to improve on its 8-12 season record. The Chargers come into the challenge with a 17-3 record after their 78-38 league win over Menominee Indian (Keshena, WI).
