February 8, 2023: Oakland, MD 21550 Fans at Wednesday's non-league challenge between the Southern Rams (Oakland, MD) and the visiting Elkins Tigers (Elkins, WV), saw Southern's basketball squad overcome Elkins by a tally of 70-58.
With the victory, Southern improves its record to 7-5 on the campaign. The Rams host Mountain Ridge (Frostburg, MD) to confront the Miners in a Appalachian Mountain challenge on Monday, February 13. The Miners come into the challenge with a record of 15-5. Mountain Ridge lost 48-34 in their recent non-league challenge against Chestnut Ridge (New Paris, PA)
Next up, the Tigers confront the Buckhannon-Upshur Buccaneers (Buckhannon, WV) in a Big Ten challenge, on Friday, February 17. Elkins will attempt to improve on its 9-11 season record.
