The Portsmouth Patriots basketball team scored 59 points and held the visiting Central Knights to 58 in the Patriots league triumph on Wednesday.

The Patriots now sport a 8-8 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Mt. Pleasant for a State Championship contest on Friday, February 11. Portsmouth will battle a Kilties team coming off a 62-48 non-league loss to Smithfield (Esmond, RI). The Kilties record now stands at 9-7.

The Knights (7-10) will now prepare for their contest against Smithfield (Esmond, RI). The Sentinels enter the State Championship contest with a 14-4 record. In their last contest, Smithfield nudged Barrington (Barrington, RI), 47-39, in a non-league contest.
