Sands Mustangs (Ackerly, TX) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad tip the host Loop Longhorns (Loop, TX), 55-51 in a league bout.

With the win, Sands upgrades its record to 19-9 on the season. The Mustangs host Wellman-Union (Wellman, TX) to play the Wildcats in a 1A Region I District 8 bout on Monday, February 12. The Wildcats go into the bout with a record of 1-17. Wellman-Union lost 76-31 in their recent league bout against Klondike (Lamesa, TX)

Next up, the Longhorns play the Borden County Coyotes (Gail, TX) in a non-league bout, on Friday, February 16. Loop will attempt to upgrade on its 4-7 season record.
