Cherryville Ironmen (Cherryville, NC) supporters left the game pleased Friday as they saw their softball squad thwart the visiting Shelby Golden Lions (Shelby, NC), 19-0 in a league game.

With the triumph, Cherryville improves its record to 5-2 on the year. The Ironmen host East Gaston (Mt. Holly, NC) to play the Warriors in a Southern Piedmont 1A/2A game on Tuesday, March 18. The Warriors enter the game with a record of 7-1. East Gaston won 21-3 in their recent league game against Bessemer City (Bessemer City, NC)

The Golden Lions now hold a 0-6 record. They play next when they travel to Lincolnton for a non-league game on Monday, March 17. Shelby will play a Wolves squad coming off a 13-2 league loss to West Caldwell (Lenoir, NC). The Wolves record now stands at 3-5.
