Myrtle Hawks (Myrtle, MS) supporters exited the stadium thrilled Friday as they witnessed their baseball team beat the host Independence Wildcats (Independence, MS), 10-4 in a non-league game.

The Hawks (9-4) will now prepare for their game against Pine Grove (Ripley, MS). The Panthers go into the non-league game with a 4-6 record. In their last game, Pine Grove nudged Thrasher (Booneville, MS), 10-1, in a league outing.

The Wildcats (9-8) will now prepare for their outing against Coahoma County (Clarksdale, MS). The Red Panthers come into the 3A Region 2 outing with a 0-1 record. In their last test, Coahoma County was overwhelmed by Rosa Fort (Tunica, MS), 24-4, in a non-league test.
