North Carolina High School Softball - Butler bounces Independence
March 24, 2026: Matthews, NC 28105 The Butler Bulldogs softball team scored 12 runs and held the visiting Independence Patriots to 2 in the Bulldogs league win on Tuesday.
The Bulldogs now sport a 4-3 record. They put it on the line next when they host East Mecklenburg for a non-league battle on Wednesday, March 25. Butler will confront a Eagles team coming off a 7-6 league win over Palisades (Charlotte, NC). The Eagles record now stands at 5-4.
With the loss, Independence moves to 7-5 on the season. The Patriots host Mallard Creek (Charlotte, NC) to confront the Mavericks in a Meck Power Six 7A/8A challenge on Thursday, March 26. The Mavericks go into the challenge with a record of 2-6. Mallard Creek lost 16-1 in their recent non-league challenge against Cox Mill (Concord, NC)
