In Monday's non-league game, the host McDowell Titans baseball squad scored a tight 13-9 triumph over the Mitchell Mountaineers.

With the triumph, McDowell advances its record to 3-2 on the season. The Titans host South Caldwell (Hudson, NC) to battle the Spartans in a Northwestern 6A/7A test on Friday, March 13. The Spartans go into the test with a record of 5-0. South Caldwell won 15-3 in their recent non-league test against North Gaston (Dallas, NC)

With the defeat, Mitchell drops to 0-4 on the year. The Mountaineers host Hendersonville (Hendersonville, NC) to play the Bearcats in a Western Highlands 2A/3A test on Tuesday, March 10. The Bearcats go into the test with a record of 1-3. Hendersonville won 13-3 in their recent non-league test against North Henderson (Hendersonville, NC)
