The Covington Lions baseball team scored 7 runs and held the visiting Hammond Tornadoes to 2 in the Lions league win on Tuesday.

The Lions now hold a 16-7 record. They take the field next when they travel to Ponchatoula for a 5A District 6 test on Thursday, April 3. Covington will play a Green Wave team coming off a 5-1 league loss to Mandeville (Mandeville, LA). The Green Wave record now stands at 17-8.

With the defeat, Hammond drops to 4-21 on the year. The Tornadoes travel to St. John (Plaquemine, LA) to play the Eagles in a non-league test on Friday, April 4. The Eagles go into the test with a record of 18-7. St. John won 13-0 in their recent league test against East Iberville (St. Gabriel, LA)
