The Hammond Central Wolves (Hammond, IN) baseball got by the visiting Whiting Oilers (Whiting, IN), 5-4 in Thursday's non-league challenge.

The Wolves now own a 1-1 record. They take the field next when they travel to East Chicago Central for a Great Lakes challenge on Monday, April 14.

With the defeat, Whiting drops to 0-1 on the year. The Oilers travel to Hebron (Hebron, IN) to clash with the Hawks in a non-league challenge on Saturday, April 12. The Hawks go into the challenge with a record of 1-1. Hebron 2-2 in their recent non-league challenge against Kankakee Valley (Wheatfield, IN)
