Hughes Springs Mustangs (Hughes Springs, TX) fans exited the stadium thrilled Friday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting New Diana Eagles (Diana, TX), 8-2 in a league challenge.

The Mustangs now sport a 18-10 record. They take the field next when they travel to White Oak for a 3A Region II District 15 challenge on Monday, April 15. Hughes Springs will face a Roughnecks squad coming off a 2-1 league win over Daingerfield (Daingerfield, TX). The Roughnecks record now stands at 22-5.

With the loss, New Diana falls to 17-9 on the campaign. The Eagles host Sabine (Gladewater, TX) to face the Cardinals in a 3A Region II District 15 challenge on Saturday, April 13.
