Kentucky High School Softball - Mt. Vernon holds off Oldham County
April 2, 2023: Buckner, KY 40010 Mt. Vernon Yellowjackets (Mt. Vernon, OH) backers exited the stadium thrilled Sunday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Oldham County Colonels (Buckner, KY), 12-10 in a non-league challenge.
The Yellowjackets now own a 2-0 record. They take the field next when they travel to Ballard for a non-league challenge on Monday, April 3. Mt. Vernon will battle a Bruins squad coming off a 13-2 non-league win over Dixie Heights (Edgewood, KY). The Bruins record now stands at 5-0.
With the loss, Oldham County falls to 7-3 on the campaign. The Colonels travel to Whitney Young (Chicago, IL) to face the Dolphins in a non-league match on Monday, April 3. The Dolphins go into the match with a record of 7-2. Whitney Young won 9-8 in their recent non-league match against Fern Creek (Louisville, KY)
