Kentucky High School Softball - Pikeville holds off Shelby Valley
April 26, 2024: Pikeville, KY 41501 Pikeville Panthers (Pikeville, KY) backers exited the stadium thrilled Friday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Shelby Valley Wildcats (Pikeville, KY), 11-9 in a league challenge.
The Panthers now own a 12-7 record. They take the field next when they host Letcher County Central for a non-league challenge on Monday, April 29. Pikeville will battle a Cougars / Lady Cougars squad coming off a 16-0 league win over Cordia (Hazard, KY). The Cougars / Lady Cougars record now stands at 14-8.
With the loss, Shelby Valley falls to 7-8 on the campaign. The Wildcats host Lawrence County (Louisa, KY) to battle the Bulldogs in a non-league challenge on Thursday, May 2. The Bulldogs enter the challenge with a record of 22-1. Lawrence County won 10-0 in their recent non-league challenge against Wayne (Wayne, WV)
