In Wednesday's non-league challenge, the host Desert Vista Thunder volleyball team scored a 3-0 victory over the Liberty Lions.

The Thunder (15-20) will now prepare for their challenge against Sunnyslope (Phoenix, AZ). The Vikings enter the 6A Central challenge with a 15-5 record. In their last challenge, Sunnyslope beat Boulder Creek (Anthem, AZ), 3-2, in a non-league challenge.

Next, the Lions meet the Mountain Ridge Mountain Lions (Glendale, AZ) in a 6A Desert Valley challenge, on Thursday, May 1. Liberty will attempt to upgrade on its 6-18 season record. The Mountain Lions enter the challenge with a 12-16 record after their 3-0 non-league loss to Casteel (Queen Creek, AZ).
