The Valley Central Vikings edged the host Goshen Central Gladiators softball squad by a count of 5-4 in Thursday's league challenge.

Next, the Vikings play the Warwick Wildcats (Warwick, NY) in a Orange County Division II challenge, on Friday, May 16. Valley Central will attempt to upgrade on its 7-5 season record. The Wildcats enter the challenge with a 9-5 record after their 3-1 league win over Cornwall Central (New Windsor, NY).

The Gladiators (9-3) will now prepare for their challenge against Burke Catholic (Goshen, NY). The enter the non-league challenge with a 1-2 record. In their last challenge, Burke Catholic was nudged by Eldred (Eldred, NY), 26-3, in a non-league challenge.
