Prout Crusaders (Wakefield, RI) backers exited the stadium thrilled Thursday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Ponaganset Chieftains (North Scituate, RI), 9-5 in a non-league challenge.

The Crusaders now own a 19-3 record. They take the field next when they travel to East Greenwich for a non-league challenge on Monday, June 6. Prout will battle a Avengers squad coming off a 10-0 non-league win over Middletown (Middletown, RI). The Avengers record now stands at 19-3.

With the loss, Ponaganset falls to 15-7 on the campaign. The Chieftains host Middletown (Middletown, RI) to face the Islanders in a non-league match on Saturday, June 4.
