High School Volleyball - Pensacola Area Homeschool over Varsity Opponent
August 20, 2024: , Fans at Tuesday's league contest between the Pensacola Area Homeschool Phoenix (Pensacola, FL) and the host Varsity Opponent (, ), observed Pensacola Area Homeschool's volleyball team top Varsity Opponent by a count of 3-1.
The Phoenix (2-2) will now prepare for their contest against Escambia Academy (Atmore, AL). The Cougars enter the non-league contest with a 0-1 record. In their last contest, Escambia Academy was knocked off by Abbeville Christian Academy (Abbeville, AL), 2-0, in a non-league contest.
Next, the battle the University Trailblazers (Carmel, IN) in a non-league contest, on Tuesday, August 20. Varsity Opponent will attempt to move on its 13-33 season record.
Match Summary
Next came a very competitive Varsity match vs a Lady Lions team that defeated our girls three times last season, including in a tournament. This time, our girls had the edge against a team that was disciplined, organized and passed the ball well, leading to a lengthy, four set match that had many long rallies. We had an advantage with fewer mistakes serving, slightly better ball handling, strong attacking pressure and in my opinion a bit more team chemistry and drive to succeed! In the fourth set, we finally pulled away for the win, capping off an exciting, hard-fought victory for our team and fans, much to the disappointment of the passionate ECA fans in attendance.
