New Mexico High School Volleyball - Clovis Los Alamos
September 10, 2022: Clovis, NM 88101 The Los Alamos Hilltoppers topped the host Clovis Wildcats volleyball team by a score of 3-1 in Saturday's non-league test.
The Hilltoppers now have a 4-3 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Santa Fe Prep for a non-league test on Tuesday, September 13. Los Alamos will confront a Blue Griffins team coming off a 3-0 non-league loss to Bosque (Albuquerque, NM). The Blue Griffins record now stands at 2-4.
The Wildcats (2-6) will now prepare for their test against Estacado (Lubbock, TX). The Matadors enter the non-league test with a 7-14 record. In their last test, Estacado gained a win over Tulia (Tulia, TX), 3-2, in a non-league test.
Match Summary
The Toppers traveled to Roswell for the Zia Classic and came up .1 points short of the Gold Round. In the afternoon meeting on Saturday after a lack luster performance against Carlsbad the Toppers regrouped to beat the Wildcats in 4. Callie Goda led the way with 11 kills from the middle followed by Ashley Hammond and Michelle Macias with 9 each. The Toppers aggressive serves led by Ashley Hammond with 4 aces and a total of 12 in the match followed by Hannah Bergemann with 3 and Gianna "G" Benelli with 3 as well. The Topper back row found just enough to give their Junior setter Angelina Passlacqua the ability to get her hitters in position with quality sets. The Toppers are back at it on Tuesday night when the visit Santa Fe Prep on the road.
