October 27, 2022: Taos, NM 87571 The Los Alamos Hilltoppers (Los Alamos, NM) volleyball overcame the host Taos Tigers (Taos, NM), 3-0 in Thursday's league outing.
With the win, Los Alamos upgrades its record to 15-6 on the year. The Hilltoppers host Moriarty (Moriarty, NM) to face the Pintos in a 4A District 2 outing on Tuesday, November 1. The Pintos go into the outing with a record of 13-8. Moriarty won 3-2 in their recent league outing against Espanola Valley (Espanola, NM)
The Tigers now own a 8-13 record. They play next when they travel to Moriarty for a 4A District 2 outing on Thursday, November 3.
Match Summary
Los Alamos made the trip into Taos to face the Tigers. The Toppers fired out of the gate quickly and ran away with the first set. The second set saw the group struggle, especially in back row execution as the DS group could not deliver in serve / receive. In the third set the Topper back row found its groove and began delivering 3 balls and quality digs for Junior setter Angelina Passalacqua and her stable of hitters. Callie Goda led the way with 14 kills, followed by Ashley Hammond with 10 kills. Gianna "G" Benelli had a strong game from the back row with 12 playable digs on 14 attempts and 2.5 serve / receive rating. Angelina Passalacqua had one of her strongest matches on offense and defense. Next up for the Toppers is their last home game of the season against the Pintos from Moriarty next Tuesday night at Griffith Gymnasium.
