November 1, 2022: Los Alamos, NM 87544 Los Alamos Hilltoppers (Los Alamos, NM) supporters left the game in high spirits Tuesday as they observed their volleyball squad top the visiting Moriarty Pintos (Moriarty, NM), 3-0 in a league match.
Next up, the Hilltoppers clash with the Pojoaque Valley Elks/Elkettes (Pojoaque, NM) in a 4A District 2 match, on Friday, November 4. Los Alamos will attempt to advance on its 16-6 season record. The Elks/Elkettes come into the match with a 17-2 record after their 3-0 league win over Espanola Valley (Espanola, NM).
With the loss, Moriarty drops to 13-9 on the campaign. The Pintos host Taos (Taos, NM) to clash with the Tigers in a 4A District 2 contest on Thursday, November 3. The Tigers go into the contest with a record of 8-13. Taos lost 3-0 in their recent league contest against Los Alamos (Los Alamos, NM)
Match Summary
The Pintos came calling in Los Alamos on Tuesday evening and the Toppers were up to the task. The Toppers raced out to an early lead in the first set and the Pintos galloped back and made the Toppers fight to earn the set. The second set was all LA with the team taking advantage of precise serving led by Hannah Bergemann and quality hitting from Solenne Thelliez, Michelle Macias and Hannah Bergemann. The back row contributed with quality serve / receive from Shyanne Garcia, Cadence Key and Hannah Bergemann. The Toppers were able to keep the momentum going into the 3rd set and win their 6th district match. This sets up a district show down against the Elkettes on Friday evening with the district title on the line.
