October 15, 2022: Albuquerque, NM 87109 In Saturday's non-league contest, the Hope Christian Huskies (Albuquerque, NM) volleyball squad were winner over the visiting Los Alamos Hilltoppers (Los Alamos, NM), by a margin of 3-0.
Next up, the Huskies face the Del Norte Knights (Albuquerque, NM) in a 4A District 6 contest, on Tuesday, October 18. Hope Christian will attempt to better on its 13-5 season record. The Knights go into the contest with a 0-14 record after their 3-0 league loss to Valley (Albuquerque, NM).
With the loss, Los Alamos moves to 12-5 on the year. The Hilltoppers host Pojoaque Valley (Pojoaque, NM) to face the Elks/Elkettes in a 4A District 2 contest on Tuesday, October 18. The Elks/Elkettes go into the contest with a record of 13-2. Pojoaque Valley won 3-0 in their recent league contest against Espanola Valley (Espanola, NM)
Match Summary
Los Alamos visited the Hope Huskies and from the start it was evident that the Toppers were not the same team that had run off 7 straight wins. The back row experienced issues with receive with no starting DS averaging over a 2.0. The front row had issues containing the Hope middle running quicks and keeping up with the outside hitters. The Topper front row only mustered 22 kills in 3 sets. All in all the Toppers played on their heals all afternoon and the Huskies were the aggressors on offense and defense. The bright spot was Junior Setter Angelina Passlacaqua that ran down 1 balls and gave the hitters an opportunity to make plays. The Toppers will regroup and return to district play on Tuesday night against Pojoaque at home in Los Alamos to remain in 1st place in district 2-4A.
