Ohio High School Football - Anderson triumphant over Lebanon
September 13, 2024: Lebanon, OH 45036 The crowd at Friday's league contest between the Anderson Raptors (Cincinnati, OH) and the host Lebanon Warriors (Lebanon, OH), witnessed Anderson's football squad wallop Lebanon by a tally of 41-7.
The Raptors (4-0) will now prepare for their contest against Kings (Kings Mill, OH). The Knights enter the Eastern Cincinnati contest with a 3-1 record. In their last contest, Kings crushed West Clermont (Cincinnati, OH), 28-10, in a league contest.
Coming up next, the Warriors battle the Little Miami Panthers (Morrow, OH) in a Eastern Cincinnati contest, on Friday, September 20. Lebanon will attempt to better on its 2-2 season record. The Panthers enter the contest with a 1-3 record after their 20-14 league win over Walnut Hills (Cincinnati, OH).
First Quarter
The Warriors opened the game with the ball, but were forced to punt on their opening drive. The Raptors also punted on their answering drive. Lebanon took over deep in their own territory, but struggled to move the ball and punted the ball back to Anderson. With 5:37 to go in the first quarter, Durrell Turner ran five yards into the end zone for a Raptors touchdown. Lucas Callahan added the PAT to put Anderson up 7-0. The Warriors' ensuing drive stalled out and resulted in a punt, and with 4:09 remaining, Justice Burnam scrambled four yards for the second Raptor touchdown of the night. The pass play on the-point conversion was no good, but Anderson still held a 13-0 lead. Lebanon marched down the field on the next drive, but junior Ke'Maury Tye intercepted a Luke Faler pass late in the quarter. The Raptors took a 13-0 lead into the second quarter.
Second Quarter
Anderson quickly marched down the field to begin the second, and Durrell Turner punched the ball in from 19 yards away for his second touchdown of the night with 10:21 left in the half. The Raptors gave it to Turner again on the two-point try, and he converted again to put the visiting team up 21-0. Lebanon punted on the following drive, and Anderson turned the ball over on downs. The Warriors then turned the ball over on downs, but this time the Raptors took advantage. With 4:51 until halftime, Turner ran for another touchdown from one yard out to put Anderson up 27-0, but Jayonn Saunders was held out of the end zone going for two. Lebanon punted on their next drive, and with 1:17 to go, Turner collected his fourth touchdown of the half (this time from 3 yards away) and Lucas Callahan made the extra point to put the Raptors ahead 34-0 entering halftime.
Third Quarter
Early in the third quarter, Lebanon recovered an Anderson fumble that set them up at the Raptor 31-yard line. The Anderson defense stood strong, however, forcing a turnover on downs to give the ball back to the Raptor offense. With 8:25 to go in the quarter, Justice Burnam connected with senior Trace Jallick on a long, 70-yard touchdown and Lucas Callahan added the PAT to put Anderson up 41-0. Lebanon punted on the ensuing drive, and the Raptors took a 41-point lead into the fourth quarter with the ball.
Fourth Quarter
The Anderson momentum was short-lived in the fourth quarter, as the Warriors quickly forced a fumble to get possession back. Lebanon turned the ball over on downs, but the Raptors did the same on their next drive. With one minute to go in the game, Warrior Max Harker found senior Nolan Woods for a 16-yard touchdown. Logan Lane's kick was good to cut the lead to 34 at 41-7 Anderson. The Raptors emerged from Week 4 with a big 41-7 road victory over Lebanon.
