North Carolina High School Volleyball - Avery County can't hold off Polk County

September 16, 2025: Newland, NC 28657

In Tuesday's league match, the Polk County Wolverines (Columbus, NC) volleyball squad tipped the host Avery County Vikings (Newland, NC), by a count of 3-2.

Next up, the Wolverines battle the Landrum Cardinals (Landrum, SC) in a non-league battle, on Wednesday, September 17. Polk County will attempt to improve on its 8-3 season record. The Cardinals go into the battle with a 13-7 record after their 2-0 non-league win over Greer Middle College (Taylors, SC).

The Vikings now own a 7-5 record. They put it on the line next when they host Mitchell for a Western Highlands 2A/3A contest on Thursday, September 18. Avery County will battle a Mountaineers team coming off a 3-0 league loss to Madison (Marshall, NC). The Mountaineers record now stands at 4-8.
