Georgia High School Softball - Gatewood can't get by Edmund Burke Academy
September 19, 2023: Waynesboro, GA 30830 In Tuesday's league contest, the Edmund Burke Academy Spartans (Waynesboro, GA) softball team held off the visiting Gatewood Gators (Eatonton, GA), by a count of 2-1.
The Spartans now sport a 4-9 record. They play next when they travel to Briarwood Academy for a GIAA 2AA match on Thursday, September 21. Edmund Burke Academy will face a Buccaneers squad coming off a 5-1 league win over Brentwood (Sandersville, GA). The Buccaneers record now stands at 7-8.
With the loss, Gatewood moves to 7-8 on the season. The Gators host Piedmont Academy (Monticello, GA) to face the Cougars in a GIAA 2AA match on Thursday, September 21. The Cougars go into the match with a record of 10-4. Piedmont Academy won 3-2 in their recent non-league match against Georgia Military College (Milledgeville, GA)
