Fans at Saturday's non-league contest between the Gainesville Red Elephants (Gainesville, GA) and the visiting Union County Panthers (Blairsville, GA), saw Gainesville's volleyball squad nudge Union County by a score of 2-1.

With the win, Gainesville improves its record to 17-9 on the season. The Red Elephants host Johns Creek (Johns Creek, GA) to encounter the Gladiators in a 5A Area 7 battle on Tuesday, September 23. The Gladiators go into the battle with a record of 13-9. Johns Creek lost 3-2 in their recent non-league battle against Cherokee Bluff (Flowery Branch, GA)
