Ashe County Huskies (West Jefferson, NC) boosters left the game thrilled Monday as they saw their volleyball squad nudge the visiting Alexander Central Cougars (Taylorsville, NC), 3-2 in a non-league test.

With the win, Ashe County upgrades its record to 17-5 on the campaign. The Huskies host Elkin (Elkin, NC) to meet the Buckin' Elks in a Mountain Valley 2A/3A/4A challenge on Tuesday, September 23. The Buckin' Elks come into the challenge with a record of 5-10. Elkin lost 3-1 in their recent non-league challenge against Mount Airy (Mount Airy, NC)

Next, the Cougars meet the South Caldwell Spartans (Hudson, NC) in a Northwestern 6A/7A challenge, on Tuesday, September 23. Alexander Central will attempt to upgrade on its 10-4 season record. The Spartans go into the test with a 8-4 record after their 3-0 league win over St. Stephens (Hickory, NC).
