In Friday's non-league match, the host Chincoteague Ponies football squad scored a close 24-20 triumph over the Kenston Forest Kavaliers.

The Ponies (3-2) will now prepare for their match against Greenbrier Christian Academy (Chesapeake, VA). The Gators come into the Virginia Football I (8 Man) match with a 3-3 record. In their last match, Greenbrier Christian Academy was nudged by Southampton Academy (Courtland, VA), 56-32, in a non-league battle.

The Kavaliers now have a 1-5 record. They play next when they host Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot for a Virginia Football II (8 Man) battle on Friday, October 3. Kenston Forest will play a Knights team coming off a 41-26 league loss to Brunswick Academy (Lawrenceville, VA). The Knights record now stands at 4-2.
