September 30, 2023: Ackley, IA 50601 The Mt. Vernon Mustangs volleyball team scored 2 points and limited the host AGWSR Cougars to 0 in the Mustangs non-league victory on Saturday.
The Mustangs now have a 24-2 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Marion for a non-league game on Tuesday, October 3. Mt. Vernon will meet a Wolves team coming off a 2-1 non-league win over Sumner-Fredericksburg (Sumner, IA). The Wolves record now stands at 20-8.
The Cougars (10-17) will now prepare for their game against Nevada (Nevada, IA). The Cubs enter the non-league game with a 16-10 record. In their last game, Nevada dropped by Clear Creek-Amana (Tiffin, IA), 2-1, in a non-league game.
