The Mt. Vernon Mustangs (Mt. Vernon, IA) volleyball nudged the visiting Xavier Saints (Cedar Rapids, IA), 2-1 in Saturday's non-league outing.

With the win, Mt. Vernon upgrades its record to 24-2 on the year. The Mustangs travel to Marion (Marion, IA) to face the Wolves in a non-league outing on Tuesday, October 3. The Wolves go into the outing with a record of 20-8. Marion won 2-1 in their recent non-league outing against Sumner-Fredericksburg (Sumner, IA)

The Saints now hold a 18-5 record. They take the field next when they travel to Nevada for a non-league battle on Saturday, September 30. Xavier will clash with a Cubs team coming off a 2-1 non-league loss to Clear Creek-Amana (Tiffin, IA). The Cubs record now stands at 16-10.
