Florida High School Volleyball - Lake Weir Dunnellon
September 6, 2023: Dunnellon, FL 34432 The Dunnellon Tigers volleyball team scored 3 points and limited the visiting Lake Weir Hurricanes to 1 in the Tigers non-league victory on Wednesday.
The Tigers now have a 2-1 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Central for a non-league game on Thursday, September 7. Dunnellon will meet a Bears team coming off a 3-0 non-league loss to Citrus (Inverness, FL). The Bears record now stands at 1-5.
The Hurricanes (1-3) will now prepare for their game against West Port (Ocala, FL). The Wolf Pack enter the non-league game with a 1-6 record. In their last game, West Port dropped by Vanguard (Ocala, FL), 3-1, in a non-league game.
Match Summary
The varsity team also got the win against Lake Weir 3 sets to 1 with an impressive performance. We won our first two matches (25-16, 25-19). We then had a slight hiccup when Lake Weir rallied to win 17-25, but we recovered nicely and won the match in the 4th set (25-18). The standout players of the match were Savannah Jenkins and Keilyn Collazo. Savannah led our team with 4 aces, she also had 15 hits, 2 Ks, 2 digs and 5 assists. Keilyn was our go to hitter for the match and led a balanced offense with 3 Ks on 13 hits and also chipped in 1 ace.
