McLaughlin Mustangs (McLaughlin, SD) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the visiting Crow Creek Chieftains (Stephan, SD), 53-45 in a non-league bout.

With the win, McLaughlin upgrades its record to 7-2 on the season. The Mustangs travel to Standing Rock (Fort Yates, ND) to play the Warriors in a non-league bout on Tuesday, January 9. The Warriors go into the bout with a record of 3-5. Standing Rock lost 78-73 in their recent non-league bout against Four Winds/Minnewaukan (Fort Totten, ND)

Next up, the Chieftains play the Cheyenne-Eagle Butte Braves (Eagle Butte, SD) in a A Region 6 bout, on Tuesday, January 9. Crow Creek will attempt to upgrade on its 1-6 season record. The Braves go into the bout with a 5-2 record after their 67-44 non-league win over Chamberlain (Chamberlain, SD).
