The Katy Tigers (Katy, TX) basketball nipped the visiting Morton Ranch Mavericks (Katy, TX), 53-52 in Friday's league test.

The Tigers (16-8) will now prepare for their test against Mayde Creek (Houston, TX). The Rams go into the 6A Region III District 19 test with a 3-24 record. In their last test, Mayde Creek was tipped by Paetow (Katy, TX), 37-28, in a league test.

The Mavericks now own a 8-18 record. They play next when they travel to Cinco Ranch for a 6A Region III District 19 test on Tuesday, January 16. Morton Ranch will encounter a Cougars squad coming off a 66-48 league loss to Tompkins (Katy, TX). The Cougars record now stands at 13-9.
