Laurel Spartan (New Castle, PA) backers were pleased Tuesday as they saw their basketball squad knock off the visiting Lincoln Wolverine (Ellwood City, PA), 41-27 in a league bout.

With the victory, Laurel upgrades its record to 1-2 on the campaign. The Spartan host Winchester Thurston (Pittsburgh, PA) to play the in a non-league bout on Thursday, December 23. The come into the bout with a record of 0-2. Winchester Thurston lost 69-45 in their recent non-league bout against Kennedy Catholic (Hermitage, PA)

Next up, the Wolverine play the Redbank Valley Bulldogs (New Bethlehem, PA) in a non-league bout, on Wednesday, December 29. Lincoln will attempt to upgrade on its 1-4 season record. The Bulldogs come into the bout with a 4-0 record after their 52-45 league win over Karns City (Karns City, PA).
