Center Casey Middelstadt of Eden Prairie (Minn.) goes to the Buffalo Sabres in the first round (No. 8 overall). New Sabres coach Phil Housley was selected in the first round of the 1982 draft (6th overall) out of South St. Paul (Minn.).

Riley Tufte of Blaine (Minn.) is selected in the 1st Round (25th overall) by Dallas. Kimball Union (NH) has its sixth player in three years drafted when Ben Finkelstein goes in the 7th Round to Florida.
