The Alexander Central Cougars (Taylorsville, NC) basketball felled the visiting Watauga Pioneers (Boone, NC), 34-23 in Tuesday's non-league test.
The Cougars (9-0) will now prepare for their test against South Caldwell (Hudson, NC). The Spartans go into the non-league test with a 0-6 record. In their last test, South Caldwell was beaten by Freedom (Morganton, NC), 40-25, in a non-league test.
The Pioneers now own a 6-2 record. They play next when they host Hibriten for a non-league test on Thursday, January 12. Watauga will encounter a Panthers squad coming off a 25-15 non-league win over Ashe County (West Jefferson, NC). The Panthers record now stands at 5-4.
