Alexander Central Cougars (Taylorsville, NC) backers were in high spirits Tuesday as they witnessed their basketball squad tip the host Watauga Pioneers (Boone, NC), 28-24 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Alexander Central moves its record to 15-0 on the year. The Cougars host South Caldwell (Hudson, NC) to face the Spartans in a non-league game on Friday, February 3. The Spartans enter the game with a record of 1-9. South Caldwell won 38-27 in their recent non-league game against Freedom (Morganton, NC)

With the defeat, Watauga moves to 8-3 on the year. The Pioneers travel to Hibriten (Lenoir, NC) to face the Panthers in a non-league game on Friday, February 3. The Panthers enter the game with a record of 5-7.
