Southern Guilford Storm (Greensboro, NC) backers were pleased Wednesday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the host Ben L. Smith Golden Eagles (Greensboro, NC), 60-56 in a league bout.

With the victory, Southern Guilford upgrades its record to 13-1 on the campaign. The Storm host Eastern Guilford (Gibsonville, NC) to play the Wildcats in a 3A Mid-State bout on Friday, January 12. The Wildcats come into the bout with a record of 1-13. Eastern Guilford lost 66-56 in their recent league bout against Atkins (Winston-Salem, NC)

Next up, the Golden Eagles play the High Point Central Bison (High Point, NC) in a 3A Mid-State bout, on Friday, January 12. Ben L. Smith will attempt to upgrade on its 11-2 season record. The Bison come into the bout with a 5-8 record after their 58-54 league win over Rockingham County (Wentworth, NC).
