Luverne Cardinals (Luverne, MN) fans went home pleased Friday as they observed their basketball team edge the host Worthington Trojans (Worthington, MN), 57-51 in a non-league challenge.

The Cardinals (3-9) will now prepare for their challenge against Jackson County Central (Jackson, MN). The Huskies come into the AA Section 3 challenge with a 7-6 record. In their last challenge, Jackson County Central edged Windom (Windom, MN), 91-83, in a league challenge.

In their next game, the Trojans encounter the Westbrook-Walnut Grove Chargers (Westbrook, MN) in a non-league challenge, on Monday, January 13. Worthington will attempt to improve on its 1-11 season record. The Chargers come into the challenge with a 9-4 record after their 59-40 league win over Edgerton (Edgerton, MN).
