The Riverside Panthers basketball team (Ellwood City, PA), was toppled 41-29 in Thursday's league battle with the host Laurel Spartan (New Castle, PA)

The Spartan now possess a 4-8 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Ellwood City for a WPIAL 3A 1 battle on Monday, January 15. Laurel will confront a Wolverine team coming off a 67-34 non-league win over Sewickley Academy (Sewickley, PA). The Wolverine record now stands at 10-5.

The Panthers (3-7) will now prepare for their battle against Mohawk Area (Bessemer, PA). The Warriors come into the WPIAL 3A 1 battle with a 7-6 record. In their last battle, Mohawk Area was toppled by Neshannock (New Castle, PA), 48-45, in a non-league battle.
