Riverside Panthers (Ellwood City, PA) backers were in high spirits Monday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the visiting Laurel Spartans (New Castle, PA), 42-27 in a league bout.

With the win, Riverside upgrades its record to 5-13 on the season. The Panthers travel to Freedom Area (Freedom, PA) to clash with the Bulldogs in a non-league bout on Tuesday, February 6. The Bulldogs go into the bout with a record of 9-10. Freedom Area lost 40-33 in their recent league bout against Aliquippa (Aliquippa, PA)

Next up, the Spartans clash with the Ellwood City Wolverine (Ellwood City, PA) in a WPIAL 3A 1 bout, on Thursday, February 8. Laurel will attempt to upgrade on its 4-15 season record. The Wolverine go into the bout with a 14-7 record after their 46-40 league win over Beaver Falls (Beaver Falls, PA).
