The Watauga Pioneers basketball team (Boone, NC), was toppled 64-47 in Thursday's non-league battle with the visiting South Caldwell Spartans (Hudson, NC)

The Spartans now possess a 5-5 record. They put it on the line next when they host Freedom for a non-league battle on Tuesday, January 16. South Caldwell will confront a Patriots team coming off a 60-15 non-league win over Hibriten (Lenoir, NC). The Patriots record now stands at 9-1.

The Pioneers (7-4) will now prepare for their battle against Alexander Central (Taylorsville, NC). The Cougars come into the non-league battle with a 6-6 record. In their last battle, Alexander Central beat Ashe County (West Jefferson, NC), 40-27, in a league battle.
