Jena Giants (Jena, LA) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad tip the visiting Bolton Bears (Alexandria, LA), 59-53 in a league bout.

With the win, Jena upgrades its record to 7-6 on the season. The Giants travel to Caldwell Parish (Columbia, LA) to clash with the Spartans in a 3A District 2 bout on Tuesday, January 16. The Spartans go into the bout with a record of 10-6. Caldwell Parish lost 65-35 in their recent league bout against Bunkie (Bunkie, LA)

Next up, the Bears clash with the Marksville Tigers (Marksville, LA) in a 3A District 2 bout, on Tuesday, January 16. Bolton will attempt to upgrade on its 3-10 season record. The Tigers go into the bout with a 11-13 record after their 61-44 non-league loss to Madison (Tallulah, LA).
