Clarendon Lions (Clarendon, AR) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the host Marvell Mustangs (Marvell, AR), 86-77 in a league bout.

With the win, Clarendon upgrades its record to 7-7 on the season. The Lions travel to Palestine-Wheatley (Palestine, AR) to clash with the Patriots in a non-league bout on Saturday, January 13. The Patriots go into the bout with a record of 7-8. Palestine-Wheatley won 58-55 in their recent league bout against McCrory (McCrory, AR)

Next up, the Mustangs clash with the Midland Mustangs (Pleasant Plains, AR) in a 1A Region 5 bout, on Tuesday, January 16. Marvell will attempt to upgrade on its 3-6 season record. The Mustangs go into the bout with a 2-11 record after their 70-44 league loss to Brinkley (Brinkley, AR).
