West Greene Pioneers (Waynesburg, PA) backers were pleased Friday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the host Jefferson-Morgan Rockets (Jefferson, PA), 45-39 in a league bout.
With the victory, West Greene upgrades its record to 7-5 on the campaign. The Pioneers host Mapletown (Greensboro, PA) to play the Maples in a WPIAL 1A 2 bout on Tuesday, January 16. The Maples come into the bout with a record of 2-9. Mapletown lost 80-36 in their recent league bout against Monessen (Monessen, PA)
Next up, the Rockets play the Geibel Catholic Gators (Connellsville, PA) in a WPIAL 1A 2 bout, on Tuesday, January 16. Jefferson-Morgan will attempt to upgrade on its 9-5 season record. The Gators come into the bout with a 0-14 record after their 61-52 league loss to California (Coal Center, PA).
