The Leake County Gators basketball team scored 53 points and restricted the visiting Mount Olive Pirates to 40 in the Gators league victory on Friday.

The Gators now sport a 7-12 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Piney Woods for a 1A Region 7 contest on Tuesday, January 16. Leake County will battle a Tornadoes team coming off a 51-41 league loss to Leake County (Walnut Grove, MS). The Tornadoes record now stands at 5-5.

The Pirates (5-6) will now prepare for their contest against Mississippi School for the Deaf (Jackson, MS). The Bulldogs come into the 1A Region 7 contest with a 1-14 record.
