The Shepaug Valley Spartans basketball team scored 78 points and held the host Thomaston Bears to 47 in the Spartans league triumph on Friday.

The Spartans now sport a 6-3 record. They put it on the line next when they host Gilbert for a Berkshire contest on Tuesday, January 17. Shepaug Valley will battle a Yellowjackets team coming off a 59-56 non-league loss to Ansonia (Ansonia, CT). The Yellowjackets record now stands at 4-7.

The Bears (2-8) will now prepare for their contest against Housatonic-Wamogo (Falls Village, CT). The Mountaineers enter the non-league contest with a 0-8 record. In their last contest, Housatonic-Wamogo was routed by Nonnewaug (Woodbury, CT), 78-37, in a non-league contest.
