George West Longhorns (George West, TX) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad bounce the visiting Taft Greyhounds (Taft, TX), 57-26 in a league bout.

With the win, George West upgrades its record to 14-12 on the season. The Longhorns travel to Mathis (Mathis, TX) to play the Pirates in a 3A Region IV District 29 bout on Tuesday, January 17. The Pirates go into the bout with a record of 14-13. Mathis won 63-12 in their recent league bout against Odem (Odem, TX)

Next up, the Greyhounds play the Aransas Pass Panthers (Aransas Pass, TX) in a 3A Region IV District 29 bout, on Tuesday, January 17. Taft will attempt to upgrade on its 5-22 season record. The Panthers go into the bout with a 17-10 record after their 55-31 league win over Goliad (Goliad, TX).
