The Lanier Longhorns basketball team (Sugar Hill, GA), was nudged 64-62 in Saturday's league battle with the host Gainesville Red Elephants (Gainesville, GA)
The Red Elephants now possess a 5-11 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Heritage for a non-league battle on Monday, January 15. Gainesville will confront a Hawks team coming off a 80-72 non-league win over Creekside Christian Academy (McDonough, GA). The Hawks record now stands at 13-2.
The Longhorns (6-10) will now prepare for their battle against Habersham Central (Mt. Airy, GA). The Raiders come into the AAAAAA Region 8 battle with a 14-3 record. In their last battle, Habersham Central edged North Forsyth (Cumming, GA), 62-60, in a league battle.
