The Neshannock Lancers (New Castle, PA) basketball nipped the host West Middlesex Big Reds (West Middlesex, PA), 45-41 in Saturday's non-league test.

The Lancers (9-3) will now prepare for their test against Beaver Falls (Beaver Falls, PA). The Tigers go into the WPIAL 3A 1 test with a 6-2 record. In their last test, Beaver Falls got by Ellwood City (Ellwood City, PA), 62-57, in a league test.

The Big Reds now own a 5-2 record. They play next when they host Cochranton for a non-league test on Monday, January 15. West Middlesex will encounter a Cardinals squad coming off a 44-31 league win over Cambridge Springs (Cambridge Springs, PA). The Cardinals record now stands at 7-6.
