Johnson Central Golden Eagles (Paintsville, KY) backers were in high spirits Saturday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the visiting Belfry Pirates (Belfry, KY), 44-30 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Johnson Central upgrades its record to 15-3 on the season. The Golden Eagles travel to Betsy Layne (Betsy Layne, KY) to clash with the Bobcats in a non-league bout on Wednesday, January 18. The Bobcats go into the bout with a record of 2-8. Betsy Layne lost 58-22 in their recent league bout against Lawrence County (Louisa, KY)

Next up, the Pirates clash with the Phelps Hornets (Phelps, KY) in a District 60 bout, on Tuesday, January 17. Belfry will attempt to upgrade on its 7-7 season record. The Hornets go into the bout with a 7-3 record after their 58-36 non-league win over Magoffin County (Salyersville, KY).
